Great weekend for Janne Happonen

från: ski-jumping.net

For Janne Happonen the long trip to Japan was definitely worth it. He could finish second on both days and achieved his first podium results since Planica in March 2006. So far a 7th place in Harrachov was his best results this winter.

“Since the Four Hills my jumps have started to be the way they should and they have improved a little all the time. Now everything looks good. This gave me a lot of self-confidence and my mood is now high, so I'm looking forward the rest of the season. Last winter wasn't at all good for me. Nothing seemed to go well. This season started in a totally different way”, the 23-year-old said.

“Janne had two excellent competitions in Sapporo. Some people may be surprised about this but the truth is that he has improved all the time since the Four Hills. We have been aware of his potential already for a long time and have just been waiting for it to show,” assistant coach Janne Väätäinen told Finnish media.

Janne Happonen has already shown in the past that he can do really well on flying hills so, with the way his shape improved recently, it’s no wonder that he is already looking forward to the skiflying World-Championships.
